Mitch Woods will be bringing his brand of boogie woogie music to the West Coast of Florida for the Mitch Woods Florida Mardi Gras Tour 2023. Woods will be backed by Tampa Bay blues legend TBone Hamilton and his band.
Mitch Woods has been a torchbearer of a great American blues musical heritage, not for three years but three decades. Taking his inspiration from the great jump n’ boogie outfits of the late 40s and early 50s, he breathes fresh life into the music that gave birth to rock n’roll. Woods styled his group after the jumpin’ n’ jivin’, shoutin’ n’ honkin’, pumpin’ n’ poundin’ bands of Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris, Joe and Jimmy Liggins, Amos Milburn, and Roy Milton. Adding a healthy dose of New Orleans rhythm and blues, piledrivin’ piano, and some of his own contemporary playful lyrics, Woods forges his own brand of music they call “rock-a-boogie.”
The TBone Hamilton Band will back up Mitch for this mini tour. TBone Hamilton is the Tampa Bay based bassist/band leader of the TBone Hamilton Band. For 3 decades TBone has performed with the best blues and jazz artists from all over the world. He has 4 CD’s under his belt including “A Tribute to Willie Dixon” which features his friend Woods. These are going to be up-close and intimate shows. So put on your dancing shoes as we rock a boogie the Mardi Gras 2023!!!
